Get the Advantage of Unbiased and Personal Financial Planning
Annual or One-Time Review
If you have an existing portfolio and would like a second look to see if you are on track to meet your goals, an annual review is suitable for you. This would include minor changes such as adding or deleting one or two products from your portfolio or obtaining general advice on what you already have. This can be done individually or as a family with no change in cost or service. If you are currently a client of Joe the Investor, the annual review would be used for re-balancing your portfolio each year, or to check if anything has changed since the most recent plan was created. If you are a new client, the annual review would be charged as an initial consultation.
If you would like to review your financial situation to see if you are on the right track, would like a second opinion, or confirmation of your current plan, the one-time review would be ideal for you. The process would entail a questionnaire and a single meeting to discuss any aspect of your financial situation including investments, retirement, taxes, estate planning or implementation of your plan. There would not be a written summary or calculation sheet provided for a one-time review.
If you need to create or substantially change your investment situation, this plan would be suitable for you. The plan would take into account risk, fees, implementation, your tax situation, country, sector and asset class exposure, timing and personal preferences and goals or dreams that you want to fulfill. This plan can also be used to plan for future income or lifestyle changes that may be planned or unexpected. This would include a written summary, detailed portfolio spreadsheets and a follow up meeting for plan execution. This can be done individually or as a family with no change in cost or service.
If you are looking specifically for retirement planning, the retirement plan is suitable for you. This would include the investment plan considerations above, plus severance pay, life changes, pension advice, estate planning, retirement income needs and retirement projections including cash flow and tax considerations in retirement. This would include a written summary, detailed portfolio spreadsheets and a follow up meeting for plan execution. This can be done individually or as a family with no change in cost or service.
Complete Financial Plan
This type of plan includes investment and retirement considerations, as well as taxation, budgeting, saving money, estate planning, customized projects such as investment properties and business planning, and one on one education about how money works for your situation. It is assumed that you have done very little planning and need to build all aspects of your financial plan from scratch. This would include a written summary, detailed portfolio spreadsheets and a follow up meeting for plan execution.
Advice For a Flat Hourly Fee
If you want advice on a specific topic or want to ask questions in a "Q and A" type format for a specific decision that you want to make, this option may be for you. Common questions would include renting versus buying a home, paying student debt versus investing, contributing to an RRSP versus paying down debt, whether to get a TFSA account and what options you would have for a new pension plan. This type of advice is ideal for people who are starting to build their wealth. Time is booked in advance and questions can be answered tailored to your needs. There would be a 1 hour minimum time allotment charged at the hourly rate of $150 per hour. There would not be a written summary or calculation sheet received for this type of advice.
Tax Preparation Services
If you are looking to have your taxes prepared or would like some tax planning only, visit our tax preparation services page. If you obtain any of our plans such as investment or retirement plan, tax planning would be included as part of the package, but preparing the tax returns would be billed separately.
